Service and Citizenship

This page lists my activities which would be classified as service by my current university and citizenship by others. I have categorized my activities into three broad groups:

  • service to the academic community, e.g. reviewing papers, helping out with conferences and editing;
  • service to the University of Aizu, which includes university-wide committee work, center-specific activities and directing the TNT Lab; and
  • service to the wider community, e.g. providing open-access resources and tools for the online community.

Open-access online software

I believe in open access and open learning, and therefore all the pedagogic tools that I create are open to all users.

Open-access online courses

I believe in open access and open learning, and therefore all the online course that I create are open to all users. The assessment and assignment submission systems and some materials for credit-bearing core and elective courses are housed on the password-protected university LMS for enrolled students only. However, the open-access course is designed to be standalone, and so non-UoA users are not disadvantaged.
