Research Center for Advanced Information Science and Technology (CAIST)
CAIST is an organization that conducts advanced research based on computer science and engineering in collaboration with external institutions. Currently, two research teams (clusters) have been established as priority research areas, promoting projects in which a large number of students participate.
- Aizu Research Cluster for Robot (ARC-Robot)
We are advancing the discipline of robotics by applying information processing technology to robots, and at the same time, creating new research areas through robots.
- Aizu Research Cluster for Internet of Things (ARC-IoT)
We conduct research and development of AI and IoT devices that are compact and energy efficient while integrating hardware and software.
Basic cluster (B cluster)
The Basic Cluster is a budding, strategic research team and is expected to transition to the CAIST cluster as the team-based research progresses.
- Intelligent Networking
We conduct research and development on safe, secure, scalable, and smart next-generation network technologies.
- Use of Satellite Data
Using remote sensing data acquired by earth observation satellites, we conduct research on software and technology related to disaster prevention, reconstruction, and resource utilization.
- Smart Design
We are conducting research and development aimed at making the knowledge creation process itself "intelligent" by overseeing the description, acquisition, and updating of knowledge related to "design" and other processes.
- Smart Service
We conduct research and development of cutting-edge technologies related to cloud-based e-learning, e-commerce, etc.
- Vision Computing Platform
We are engaged in research and development related to the realization of human "visual functions" using deep learning and other technologies.
- Automatic AI System Design
Our research is aimed at analyzing and solving difficult tasks in machine learning and deep learning, and automating a series of processes such as design, development, operation, and management of AI systems.
Aizu Research Center for Space Informatics (ARC-Space)
In the field of space information science, which integrates space science (planetary science) and information science, we develop data and software that add new value and contribute to the elucidation of the origin and evolution of solar-system bodies.
AI Center
AI (Artificial Intelligence) is attracting attention from society and industry, and our objective is to solve its technological issues and strengthen our human resource development capabilities.
