On Wednesday, June 29, 2022, an International Talk on Zoom was held as a Global Lounge activity. Twenty-seven people including students, faculty, and staff members participated.
Mr. Russel Staples, who studied at UoA until this month, was featured as a speaker. He talked about his home country, the United States of America. Mr. Odaira Takuto, a third-year student, served as the moderator in English.
The presentation was an excellent overview of the USA, including its geography, culture, history, sports, and national events. There were many other interesting things that cannot be fully described here (see the pictures below). Russel's impassioned presentation, coupled with his sincere personality, captured the hearts of the audience. With his explanation, viewers learned a great deal about the United States that they thought they knew but did not. It was also valuable to have a real-time presentation by the student who studied at our university, especially from his home country.
Following the fascinating presentation, a lot of questions came up such as his language learning, cultural differences and his life in Aizu. After his presentation, some participants said they wanted to improve their English skills to fully understand the content. It seemed to be a great motivation for them to improve their foreign language skills.
The next International Talk will be held on July 13 via Zoom. Don't miss it!
