On Tuesday, August 25, 2026, an exchange program between the Aizu-Wakamatsu Chamber of Commerce and Industry Businesswomen's Club and the University of Aizu was held. This exchange program marked its 13th edition this year. It provides a valuable opportunity for the University to share its various initiatives and achievements with the local community while strengthening ties with the region.

This year, OKI Kazusa, Associate Senior Professor at the Center for Cultural Research and Studies, gave a lecture titled "The Role of Sports in Community Development." The lecture explored the role of sports in maintaining and promoting physical and mental well-being, fostering connections among people, and promoting the attractiveness of the region through "sports × tourism."

Although the University of Aizu specializes in computer science and engineering, its educational and research activities cover a wide range of fields. This event provided an opportunity to introduce another aspect of the University through the theme of sports. The participants listened attentively to Professor Oki's lecture, followed by an active exchange of questions and opinions during the Q&A session.

The University of Aizu will continue to value exchanges and collaboration with the local community and provide opportunities to share its diverse initiatives and activities, thereby strengthening its ties with the region.
