The course grades have been finalized and reported to
the student affairs deivision.
2/2/07
Dear students. the semester is almost over.
We are doing the final check of the grade for this class.
I have to remind you that there will be no make up test.
If there has been any problem which you want to insist that
has affected your grade for this class, it must be supported
by an official document. For example, if you were involved in
a traffic accident, you have to provide us with a report from
the police. Just cross your fingers and wish you'd passed
this course.
1/28/07
Since there has not been any request for Monday, please study
by yourself during the class time tomorrow.
The only printed material you can bring in for the exam is
the textbook,
which is Modern Operating Systems (2nd Edition).
1/25/07
So far I have not heard any request for the Monday next week.
If I do not hear by the end of Jan 26 (Friday), there will not be
a class on Monday next week and students will study by themselves
for the preparation for the final exam.

Since students worked on the last exercise problems individually
during the execise class period, no late submission will be accepted.

The class will consist of a short lecture followed by

on the disks (Section 5.4) and then work on short exercise

if you need any help. Sorry for inconvenience.

Please be prepared to ask questions before coming to the class;
otherwise, both of us will waste time.
Mid term exam will be given on either Nov 13 or 14, you will
be notified about the exact schedule soon.
It is assumed that you have read and fully understood the
Examination Policies and Rules .
In the previous week's exercise, there were submissions
which looked very similar each other.
You must not forget that there will be a sever penalty for such
an act of cheating.
On Oct 30, we will enter Chapter 3, Deadlock.
Lecture slides for Chapter 3 have been posted on the
lecture slides page.
10/26/06

during tomorrow's office hours. If this causes you a problem,
please contact me to discuss an alternative.
On October 23, we will cover the rest of Chapter 2 on
the textbook.
Please be warned that you need your own copy of
the textbook.
There have been several problems caused by not having textbooks.
For example, there have been some students who could not finish
their exercise problems within the class. This is because
they did not review the course material taught in the lectures
using the textbook. Lecture slides are only the supplemental
document for the lectures.
For tomorrow's office hours only, I will be in 241-F
(the conference room for the OS Lab) from 1600 to 1700.
I will be in my office from 1400 to 1600 as usual.
We will be having a group meeting during this period, but
the priority is on the students coming for my office hours.
The pdf version of the lecture slides for Chapter 2 had
a problem (the figure on page 17 was not displayed properly).
The corrected version has been uploaded.
