The University of Aizu identified "Contributing to industry and culture in the region" as one of its basic principles for its founding philosophy, and has endeavored to promote activities that contribute to the region ever since it opened.

Exchange with local industry is thriving and the desire to start up venture businesses has spread across the Aizu area; regarding the number of venture businesses launched from the University, it was the largest among public universities in the country (FY 2016 data from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry), and has increased year by year.
