Assistant Professor Zhishang Wang won the Best Conference Paper Award at "The 9th International Conference on Knowledge Innovation and Invention 2026 (ICKII 2026)’’

At the 9th International Conference on Knowledge Innovation and Invention 2026 (ICKII 2026) (*1), held in Sendai, Japan, from Friday, August 14 to Sunday, August 16, 2026, Zhishang Wang (*2), an assistant professor and a member of the Advanced Computing Systems Laboratory (*3) at the University of Aizu, received the Best Conference Paper Award..

The awarded paper is entitled
"NHURO-MT: Event-Driven Reflexive Multithreading for Resource-Constrained Humanoid Platforms."

This paper presents a fault tolerant, distributed Neuromorphic Humanoid Robot (NHURO) system designed for mission critical applications. The proposed framework incorporates a multithreaded Software Development Kit (SDK) built on Robot Operating System 2 (ROS 2), integrating perception, command interpretation, and motion execution into a unified runtime environment. A cooperative fault tolerance mechanism is further introduced to ensure task continuity and recovery in situations where an assigned robot becomes unavailable.
