At the "The 9th International Conference on Knowledge Innovation and Invention 2026 (ICKII 2026)" (* 1) held in Sendai, Japan, from Friday, August 14 to Sunday, August 16, 2026, Mr. Lance Deniel Suarez Malihan, a 4th grade undergraduate student supervised by Prof. BEN ABDALLAH Abderazek and belonging to the Advanced Computing Systems Laboratory (* 2) at the University of Aizu, received the Best Conference Paper Award.
The awarded paper is entitled
" NHURO-Vision: Edge-AI-Based Real-Time Object Recognition and Tracking for Humanoid Robotic Security."
Co-authors: Kairu Otsuka, Wang Zhishang, Khanh N. Dang, and Ben Abdallah Abderazek
This paper presents the integration of a lightweight YOLO based object detection module into the Neuromorphic Humanoid Robot (NHURO) multithreaded Software Development Kit (SDK). To achieve real time performance on the NHURO humanoid platform, several optimization techniques--including inference backend migration, image resolution scaling, multithreaded camera acquisition, and frame skipping--are applied to reduce computational load while maintaining stable detection accuracy.
