Signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology

On Thursday, August 21, 2025, the University of Aizu signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology (TAR-UMT)(*1) , Malaysia.

TAR-UMT is a private university established in 1969 and named in honor of Malaysia's first Prime Minister, Tunku Abdul Rahman. It is recognized as one of the country's oldest institutions of higher education and among the largest private universities in Malaysia. All courses are offered in English.

The collaboration with TAR-UMT began at the 17th IEEE MCSoC in 2024, where faculty from both universities explored potential research collaborations. Given the compatibility of their research fields, the two institutions have now signed a general academic agreement.

The signing ceremony of the agreement was held online, with attendees from both universities discussing its significance and expressing expectations for future collaborative exchanges. Ten representatives from TAR-UMT--including Prof. Dato' Indera Ir. Dr. LEE Sze Wei, President, Assoc Prof SAY Sok Kwan, Vice President (Administration and Internationalization), Assoc Prof WONG Hwa Kiong, Vice President (Academic & Quality Assurance ), Prof Dr LOKE Chui Fung, Vice President (Research & Development and Commercialization), and Assoc Prof Dr LIM Li Li, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology--and seven representatives from the University of Aizu--including Dr. TSUKAHARA Tsuneo, Chairperson of the Board of Executives, President, Mr. IWASE Jiro, Vice Chairperson of the Board of Executives, Vice President, Revitalization and　 Director of the University & Business Innovation Center, and Dr. BEN ABDALLAH Abderazek, Professor, Dean for the School of Computer Science and Engineering--participated in the ceremony.

We will continue to enhance the quality of research and education at both universities, while further promoting the development of globally minded ICT human resources.
