On Monday, July 28, 2025, the 12th exchange program between Aizu-Wakamatsu Chamber of Commerce and Industry Businesswomen's Club and the University of Aizu was held. This year's program focused on artificial intelligence (AI), a technology that is becoming increasingly familiar in our daily lives, providing participants with an opportunity to learn about its latest developments and future possibilities.
Professor WATANOBE Yutaka*1, a native of Fukushima Prefecture, gave a lecture titled " Industry and education created together with AI" He explained the rapid progress of AI and its impact on society, while introducing the potential of generative AI and AI agents, as well as the future outlook for education and industry. His lecture was easy to follow and included real-world examples.
Professor ISHIBASHI Shiro*2 gave an overview of the University-Business Innovation Center (UBIC), which served as the venue for the event. He explained the facility's unique features and introduced the UBIC's main activities. The UBIC was renovated and reopened last year as the Fukushima Digital Innovation Center (FDIC) to promote digital innovation in the region*3. He also introduced one of the UBIC's key initiatives: support for student entrepreneurship, which is also a priority for the University. As part of this effort, two student-run startup companies established in April 2025--AmatoAI Inc. (FUJIMATSU Yuki*4) and e-Family LLC (HASHIMOTO Ryoma*5)--gave presentations on their respective visions and activities.
Launched in 2012, this exchange program has become a valuable opportunity for the University of Aizu to share its diverse initiatives and achievements with the wider community. Thank you to all involved.
