On Wednesday, December 11, 2024, the International Talk event took place as part of the Global Lounge activities. A total of 22 participants, including students and faculty members, attended the event.
Ms. Kumudri Goonetilleke, an undergraduate student, was the guest speaker. She delivered an engaging presentation in English about her home country, Sri Lanka. The event was moderated by Mr. Munasinghe Tenshi, anther undergraduate student, who served as the MC.
The presentation provided an excellent overview of Sri Lanka, covering topics such as its geography, culture, wildlife, cuisine, history, and more. One of the highlights was the quality and quantity of her slides, which were visually appealing and filled with colorful, captivating images. Her dynamic delivery kept the audience engaged, and many participants expressed a newfound interest in visiting Sri Lanka.
Numerous fascinating aspects of Sri Lanka were showcased during the talk (see pictures below). The audience was so absorbed in her presentation that they lost track of time.
The Q&A session lasted well over twenty minutes longer than scheduled due to the large volume of questions and comments from the audience. It sparked an insightful discussion on the cultural differences between Sri Lanka and Japan, leaving participants eager to learn more.
