On October 30, a meeting was held at the UoA's community space Kiyare, where students and President Tsukahara exchanged opinions.
Every year, the University provides an opportunity to exchange views with students. This year, the event was held with President Tsukahara, and the content was reorganised to allow students to think together in order to gain insights into how to enhance the provision of student-centred education, which is part of the University's philosophy.
The roundtable discussion began with self-introductions by all participants. Students also shared their non-academic activities, such as research, teaching, student associations, school festivals and clubs on campus, as well as starting student ventures.
In the main question, topics such as 'What can we do to provide opportunities to learn about extra-curricular activities and research?' and 'How can we, as a university, contribute to the revitalisation of the region?' were raised and discussed by all participants.
The discussions also showed how students were making full use of the resources available on campus and combining them with resources outside the university, as well as acquiring information from different communities, such as their classes, teaching programmes and circle mates. This seemed to provide a useful opportunity for the participating students to exchange information with each other.
Our university will continue to engage in value co-creation for better education through dialogue with students.
