On Monday, November 27, 2023, the 10th exchange between the Aizu-wakamatsu Chamber of Commerce and Industry Women's Club and the University of Aizu was held. This exchange was started by the Women's Club at the time of the opening of the University to help both the faculty members recruited from all around Japan and the globe and their wives deepen their understanding of Aizu. It is now a chance for participants to learn about the research and initiatives at the UoA.
Associate Professor HATA Keisuke*1 of the University-Business Innovation Center gave a lecture titled "Persona of the University of Aizu: Ventures and Students from a Faculty Member's Perspective." The lecture covered topics such as the University's ventures, student activities and their engagement with the local community, his research on computer vision and sports engineering, and its potential for future commercialization.
In the second half, the participants moved to the Aizu Geek Dojo*2, the student maker space that was renovated last year. Students explained the facility and its equipment, giving demonstrations of the 3D printers, laser cutters, and other devices.
With participants asking a variety of questions and giving much feedback, the event was a success.
