On Tuesday, May 30, 2023, the University of Aizu and the Fukushima Institute for Research, Education and Innovation (F-REI) concluded a basic agreement on cooperation for the purpose of enhancing mutual research and development and human resource development by promoting collaborative activities that effectively utilize the resources of both parties, thereby contributing to the revitalization and development of the Hamadori region of Fukushima Prefecture and the creative revitalization of Fukushima and Tohoku region, as well as the driving force for the creation of Japan.
The details of the collaboration are as follows.
(1) Research and development
(2) Human resource development
(3) Exchange of human resources
(4) Mutual use of facilities and equipment owned by both parties
(5) Other cooperative and collaborative activities agreed upon by the both parties

The ceremony was attended by Koetsu Yamazaki, President and Yuji Owada, Executive Officer from F-REI, and Toshiaki Miyazaki, President, Jiro Iwase, Regent, and Toshihiko Abe, Regent and Director General from the University of Aizu.

In addition, Tetsuro Eguchi, Counselor to the Superintendent of the F-REI Auxilary division of the Reconstruction Agency, a related organization, was also in attendance.

After the signing ceremony, the "F-REI Top Seminar*" was held as part of the "Recommendations for Science and Engineering" class for new students of the university, with President Yamazaki of F-REI serving as a lecturer, and he gave a lecture on the theme of "How to Spend Your Future? Recommendations for University Life".

*As part of F-REI's human resource development activities, top executives from the organization will conduct seminars for students at universities and other educational institutions in Fukushima Prefecture on the appeal and potential of cutting-edge science and technology.
