On Monday, April 18, International Talk special edition was held via Zoom as an activity of Global Lounge. This event was the second round of the successful project that started in 2021 with a concert talk on Tchaikovsky. Around 70 people, including students, faculty members, and staff participated in the event.

Professor Evgeny Pyshkin from Russia was invited as a speaker and performer. He introduced Rachmaninov, the legendary musician to the audience in English. Also, Ms. Agnes Leung, a fourth-year undergraduate student, acted as the MC for the event.

For many music lovers, Sergei Vasilyevich Rachmaninov, or Rachmaninoff (1873 - 1943) is one of the great representatives of what some called "Russian neo-romanticism" in classical music. It was Professor Pyshkin's birthday, and Rachmaninov's music was revived that day by his wonderful performance that transcended time and place.

Following his engaging talk, the audience was drawn in by the excellence of his piano playing. His presentation was not limited to talk and piano. The event was filled with everything from artistic photography to the footage of amazing dance performances.

It was a great opportunity to learn about authentic classical music and various forms of related art in Russia through the fascinating presentations of Professor Pyshkin.

The next International Talk will be held in May via Zoom. Don't miss it!
