Multimodal Technologies and Interaction published a paper by Mr. James Pinkl (4th year Ph.D. student) together with Prof. Julián Villegas and Prof. Michael Cohen in August 2024, titled "Multimodal Drumming Education Tool in Mixed Reality." This research is important because it shows how Action Observation, an approach with historically mixed results in motor education, can be used in the contexts of mixed reality and rhythmic education. Experimental findings via a 20-subject study showed a significant difference between the improvement of rhythmic accuracy of subjects who practiced via mixed reality relative to subjects who practiced with standard video.
