"World meets Fukushima FUKUSHIMA SEKAIMESHI (*1) ; The 4th Sekaimeshi Cooking Studio in Nihonbashi " was held at Nihonbashi Fukushima Museum MIDETTE on Sunday, January 18, 2015 (*2).
The event aims to convey to the people of greater Tokyo how tasty and attractive Fukushima's produce is, by cooking "Sekaimeshi = home cuisine around the world" while also holding international exchange. One German student from the University of Aizu (UoA) instructed other students in making a German cuisine called "Maultaschensuppe" (*3) . She wore German traditional clothes while introducing the cuisine.
"Sekaimeshi" was provided to an amazing 300-plus people at the event. The students have not expected this level of participation.
Participants' comments on the food and the event:
"It is my first time having German cuisine. It's surprisingly familiar to Japanese."
"I liked being able to encounter Fukushima produce, and I thought it was interesting to cook world cuisine with the produce.", etc.
The students accomplished their goal of advertising how rich Fukushima produce is through world cuisine.
"The 5th Sekaimeshi Cooking Event in Fukushima" will be jointly held with students from the Fukushima University on Sunday, February 21, 2015.
International students from the University of Aizu and the Fukushima University will collaboratively introduce six recipes from three countries. The event aims to advertise how Fukushima produce is tasty and attractive to people through world cuisine. Japanese and international students from both universities will cook cooperatively.
This will be a last event in this fiscal year, so invite your friends and family. World meets Fukushima FUKUSHIMA SEKAIMESHI from the NPO Fukushima Internet Television has a plan to hold such events around Japan and will proactively provide information on Fukushima produce on the web and social media!
