The School of Computer Science and Engineering is seeking candidates for a tenure-track faculty position(Robot Software)
Since 2015, our university has been working with companies and research institutes in and outside Fukushima Prefecture to research and develop disaster response robots, etc., following the adoption of the Fukushima Prefecture subsidy program "Robot Technology Development Support Project." To promote this program, we are recruiting a faculty member to work at the Aizu University Robot Test Field (RTF) Research Center, located in Minamisoma City, Fukushima Prefecture.

3. Field of expertise: Robot software
4. Application requirements
(1) Those who hold or are expected to obtain a doctoral degree.
(2) Those who have a track record of research in a specific field (cloud robotics, image recognition, SLAM, autonomous control, system security, etc.).
(3) Experience in the research and development of robot software, control systems or platforms.
(4) Experience and motivation in industry-academia collaboration activities.
(5) Experience in organizational management and the cooperative and coordination skills necessary for organizational business execution.
(6) Basic English communication skills (TOEIC score of 630 or higher or equivalent).
(7) Regardless of nationality, candidates must have sufficient conversational, written and reading skills in Japanese to perform their duties (Japanese Language Proficiency Test Level 2 equivalent).
(8) Work experience related to the proposal and execution of projects for the government or public institutions is desirable.
5. Main duties
(1) Research and development in specific areas of robotics information engineering (cloud robotics, image recognition, SLAM, autonomous control, system security, etc.)
(2) Conduct demonstration research using RTF resources (including Moon-Mars sandbox)
(3) Participate in national and prefectural robot technology development projects and manage and operate research and human resource development projects
(4) Support industry-academia collaboration and commercialization in robotics information engineering
(5) Education and human resource development in robotics information engineering
(6) Other robot-related work undertaken by the university
※ The faculty member's duties include education, research, community contribution, and university management, and will be primarily responsible for research and education on robots, and community contribution through industry-academia collaboration at the University of Aizu RTF Research Center.

In addition, as part of the teaching duties, one will be in charge of computer science and engineering subjects intensively at the main campus (Aizu-Wakamatsu, Fukushima) during one quarter of the year, just like regular faculty.
8. Salary
The salary will be based on the university regulations.

12. Selection method
After receiving the application, the first selection process (document screening) and the second selection process (interview for those who pass the first selection process) will be conducted.
In the first selection process, the submitted documents will be reviewed for each evaluation item: field of expertise, teaching ability, research ability, and development track record.
In the second selection process, interviews will be conducted for those selected in the first selection process. The interviews will be conducted primarily in Japanese, but some will be conducted in English to confirm English proficiency.
