At the FUKUSHIMA FUKKO-TRANSFORMATION, organized by Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry during Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, the University of Aizu's initiatives were showcased as part of an effort to present the present and future of the Hamadori region in Fukushima Prefecture to both domestic and international audiences.
Highlighted in the Fukushima Robot Test Field booth were the University's establishment of a research center at the Fukushima Robot Test Field--its first satellite facility outside the city since the University's founding--and its activities aimed at fostering next-generation talent through robotics technology and programming education.
Additionally, footage was shown of experiments conducted by Associate Professor Ryuhei Yamada of the University of Aizu, involving a small crawler robot operating in a debris/landslide field, with the goal of generating 3D maps at the Fukushima Robot Test Field.
Also featured was footage of disaster-response experiments with the crawler-type robot MISORA2, which is being developed mainly by the Minamisoma Robot Industry Council. The University of Aizu is also involved in the software development for MISORA2.
* The FUKUSHIMA FUKKO-TRANSFORMATION was held for a limited period from Tuesday, May 20 to Saturday, May 24, 2025.
