Renewing your period of stay
◇ Application Process
You must submit required documents 1-8 along with documents issued by the university to the Regional Immigration Bureau. First, please submit required documents 1-8 to the International Affairs Section of the Student Affairs Division (i-sad@u-aizu.co.jp) and request the issuance of the documents that must be prepared by the university. Once you receive these, please apply for a renewal of your period of stay in person at the Regional Immigration Bureau.
You can apply for a renewal starting from three months before the expiration date of your period of stay. Make sure to apply at the Regional Immigration Bureau before the expiration date. It takes about two weeks to three months from the time of application to receive the results of the review. After receiving your new residence card, please submit the data on both sides of the card to the International Affairs Section of Student Affairs Division.
Attention!
・It takes about one week from the time you submit the required documents to the Student Affairs Division before you receive the documents issued by the university. Please note that it will take more time if your documents are incomplete.
・If you do not submit your status of residence information to the university after renewing your residence card, or if you do not respond to communications from the university, you will be reported as missing to the Regional Immigration Bureau.
