For Prospective Graduates
Returning to your home country
After graduation, you may not continue to stay in Japan even if your "Student" visa status remains valid. Please vacate your rental property, complete the necessary procedures at the city hall, etc., and leave the country promptly (within around two weeks after graduation). Please be aware that you may be deported if you illegally stay beyond the allowed period.

Continuing your job search
If you wish to continue job hunting in Japan after graduation or completion of your studies, you must apply to the Regional Immigration Bureau for permission to change your status of residence to "Designated Activities." A letter of recommendation from the university is required to file this application. Requests for this letter of recommendation will be accepted starting from around two months before graduation (Spring graduates: around January, Fall graduates: around July). Students who wish to request a letter of recommendation should follow the procedures specified in the email sent around this time. Please note that students who do not request a letter of recommendation during the designated application period will not be eligible to receive one.
Working in Japan
If you have been hired to work in Japan, please ask your prospective employer to change your status of residence to a suitable one.
Going on to higher education
Once you have enrolled at another school of higher education, notify the Regional Immigration Bureau that you have left our institution and enrolled at another institution in a timely manner.
