SKI AREAS


There are nearly thirty ski areas in the Aizu district, each of which has its own character, and all are known for having plenty of snow. Except at New Year's time, it it easy to get around. The following are seven ski areas in the vicinity of Inawashiro:

Inawashiro Ski Area

It is possible to ski directly from the middle of Mt. Bandai to Lake Inawashiro. For beginners and advanced skier. Also has night skiing. (14 ski lifts)


Bandai-Kokusai Ski Area

A ski slope on the east side of Mt.Bandai whose long runs appeal to skiers. For beginners and families. (5 lifts and 1 escalator)


Inawashiro Resort Ski Area

The main drawing card is the high-speed sky shuttle which holds six people. (4 lifts)


Listel Ski Fantasia

Also has night skiing. (3 ski lifts)


Numajiri Ski Area

The older ski area in the Tohoku region, it can be reached directly from the area of the hot springs. For beginners and intermediate skiers. Also has night skiing. (5 lifts and 2 rope ways)


Yokomuki SKi Area

On a rise near the Yokomuki hot spring resort. Noted for its deep snow. (2 lifts and 1 rope tow)


Mineyama Ski Area

East of the International Inawashiro Ski Area. For beginners. (1 lift)


Ura-Bandai Ski Area

On the northern slope Mt. Bandai; alt. 1,200m. The season lasts from December to early April. Beginners to advanced skiers. A lovely view of the lakes can be enjoyed while skiing down the mountain. (2 lifts)


Ura-Bandai Nekoma Ski Area

The largest ski area in the region, it is famous for its extra-fine powder snow. THe season lasts from November to March. (7 lifts, including a fast triple lift with a cover to protect skiers against snow)
