One piece of A-4 sized paper
(on which you may write or print anything) are allowed
during the exam.
This paper (cheat sheet) can only be used in a read-only manner,
and other use, such as
copying the exam problems and take them home,
is prohibited and considered to be an act of cheating.

No other printed materials, including the Japanese translation
of the textbook, photocopies of textbook
or hardcopies of exercise problems, are allowed.
(Textbook was incorrectly remained in the items that can be
brought to the exam. The textbook was removed from this list
when the 'cheat sheet' was introduced. Sorry for confusion
(Feb.7, 2014)).
A scientific calculator is allowed, however, it must NOT be programmable.
A dictionary is allowed. An electronic dictionary is allowed as long
as it is NOT programmable. Proctors may ask you to show that
your dictionary and calculator are not programmable during
the exam.
To avoid interference, use a paper dictionary.
The use of a portable phone is prohibited, no matter how it is used
(i.e. even as a watch for checking time).
It must be switched off and stored inside your bag.
In the even where the exam takes place in the exercise room,
you must NOT login to the computer and monitor must be switched off.
When it is necessary to use computers for the exam, you will
be instructed so.
No make-up exam will be given. The only exception is an accident
or illness which must be proved by an official document
(such as a doctor's note) that you were not responsible
for the problem and it was out of your control.

In the courses offered for the first and second-year
undergraduate students, Japanese may also be used.
