Course Objectives

To understand the design and structure of modern operating systems.
To understand how operating systems abstract and manage the various resources on the computer systems.
To learn how above theoretical concepts are implemented on the modern operating systems through programming and experimental assignments.

Grading Scheme and Policies

Midterm Exam 30%
Final Exam 40%
Exercises 30%
Exercise problems must be submitted by the end of the exercise class time in which the problems are given. No late submission is accepted.
Exercise session spans to two class periods. Therefore, you may take a break at your discretion. However, you may not disturb other students working on the exercie problem and you may not bring anything unrelated to the course work (such as toys, games, etc). In short, please leave the lab if you don't study.
If a student miss more than three (four) exercises by the mid-term (final) exam, he/she will automatically fail the course. One excuse can be granted if the reason of absence is out of his/her control and proved by an official document (such as doctor's note).
