On Friday, December 12, 2025, Vice President Jiro Iwase of the University of Aizu delivered an online lecture titled "University of Aizu and Smart City," held in Siem Reap Province, the Kingdom of Cambodia.
The seminar was organized as part of the technical cooperation project titled "Project for Implementation of Smart City Approach to Solve Urban Issues in Siem Reap Phase 2," jointly implemented by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Siem Reap Provincial Government of Cambodia. The seminar aimed to deepen understanding of smart city initiatives through special lectures delivered by the University of Aizu and the National University of Management, Cambodia.
In his lecture, Vice President Iwase provided an overview of the University of Aizu and its industry-academia-local government collaboration initiatives, and introduced the Smart City Aizu-Wakamatsu model with reference to international case studies. A question-and-answer session was also held with participants from the local government, universities, and the private sector.
