International Talk: "Let's Learn About Costa Rica!" Held
On January 15, 2025, the International Talk was held as part of the activities of the Global Lounge. This regular event aims to promote intercultural understanding and communication on campus community, as international students introduce their home countries in English to students, faculty, and staff in a fun and engaging way.
A total of 29 participants, including students and faculty members, attended the event.
Graduate student Flores Medina Bryan Josue was the speaker and gave a presentation in English about his home country, Costa Rica, located in Central America. The event was smoothly moderated by another graduate student Angelita Gozaly.
Bryan-san provided a broad introduction to Costa Rica's geography, culture, His visually striking slides, which showcased the country's beautiful natural landscapes and diverse Flora and Fauna attracted the audience's attention. Additionally, his fluent English, laced with humor, served as an ideal role model for English learners on campus.
Through the presentation, participants not only learned about the natural beauty of Costa Rica and the importance of environmental conservation but also about the country's unique policy of not having a military, which left a deep impression on the attendees.
During the Q&A session following the presentation, a variety of questions were raised regarding cultural differences between Costa Rica and Japan, which further enriched the discussion. This International Talk provided both high entertainment value and a significant boost to the intellectual curiosity of the participants, making it a highly fulfilling event. The next event is scheduled for April.
