On Thursday, July 15, 2021, the University of Aizu's joint proposal with the Fukushima Renewable Energy Research Institute (FREA) of the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) and Okuaizu Geothermal Co., Ltd. was selected by the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO)(※) for the "Development of Technology for Advanced Utilization of Geothermal Power Generation.
In this project, we will develop a system to detect abnormalities and make future predictions based on the steam generation data collected by Okuaizu Geothermal Co., Ltd. at the Yanagizu Nishiyama Geothermal Power Plant in order to realize a stable steam supply.
We will then work to spread the developed system to steam production and geothermal power generation companies in the Yanaizu area and other regions.
The University of Aizu has been conducting joint research with Okuaizu Geothermal Co., Ltd. for several years, including data analysis of temporal variations in water vapor content at the Yanaizu Nishiyama Geothermal Power Plant, one of Japan's leading geothermal power plants.
