Professor Orr, Director of CLR is Elected President of an IEEE Technical Society

On November 14, Dr. Thomas Orr, Professor and Director of the Center for Language Research, was elected President of the IEEE Professional Communication Society for 2010-11. IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, *1) is the world's leading professional association for the advancement of technology in all fields. IEEE's Professional Communication Society, which Dr. Orr will be heading, is devoted to the research, education, and workplace support of communication and information management in all scientific and technical fields. It is a great honor for the University of Aizu to have one of its faculty members elected to this important international post. Professor Orr expressed his hope for this appointment by saying "I am confident that working with IEEE in this leadership position will help bring the UoA greater international fame and respect."
As for the PCS Society, Professor Orr is the first President from an Asian country.
