Open Campus 2014, Summer Stage

On Sunday, August 10, the Open Campus Summer Stage (*1) was held at the UoA.

At this event, the UoA opens its facilities and introduces research conducted at each laboratory to high school students so that they will have information helpful to consider admission to the UoA as an option for their future path.

In spite of bad weather, with furious Typhoon No. 11 (Typhoon Halong) approaching to the Tohoku region, participants enjoyed the campus tour, open laboratory, trial lectures, and breakfast tasting, and got a glimpse of UoA campus life. Information essential for students taking entrance examinations was also given by providing consultation regarding entrance examinations and distribution of previous UoA examination problems during the event.

Senior Associate Professor Hamada (*2), who gave a trial lecture, encouraged participants, saying "I would be happy to see you as students of the UoA enjoying the international atmosphere on campus and joining in our laboratory to conduct research together."

A 1/5 scale model of "Hayabusa 2" (*3), which is scheduled to be launched at the end of this year was exhibited at ARC-Space, the Research Center for Advanced Information Science and Technology (CAIST). Senior Associate Professor Demura (*4), wearing a T-shirt with the image of "Hayabusa 2" printed, invited participants to the exhibition, saying, "This model represents the real thing very precisely, so come and take a look at it."

The Open Campus Fall Stage will be held on Saturday, October 11 and Sunday, October 12, 2014, in conjunction with Sosho Sai, (*5) the university festival.
