The Aizu Sakura Lanka Association (Representative: Ms. Marii Igarashi) made a rice donation (13 bags x 30kg) for international students at the University of Aizu. The presentation ceremony was held on Tuesday, December 22, at 2:00 p.m. with attendance of Ms. Igarashi, 5 rice producers, and the following persons from the University; Professor Rozycki (President of Support Association for International Students of the University of Aizu), Mr. Kanno (Director General of the Administrative Office), and 6 international students from China, Taiwan and Sri Lanka, who received the rice from the producers. Professor Rozycki showed his gratitude by saying, "I appreciate the support for our international students, and I hope to take this occasion to expand mutual exchanges between our international students and the communities", and Ms. Igarashi said,"The rice is a Christmas present for the students." The Aizu Sakura Lanka Association has continued to make a donation of rice provided by the producers in Aizuwakamatsu City and Inawashiro Town since the donation started in 2003, hoping that international students, especially who eat rice as their staple food, will deepen their understanding of Aizu through the local products.
