The University of Aizu Dormitory Scheduled for Opening in April of 2011

The University of Aizu will open its dormitory next spring.
It will be a 4-story reinforced concrete structure building, which can house up to 80 students. 1st-year students of the Undergraduate School (capacity: 40) and international students (capacity: 40) will be eligible to reside in the dormitory. Residents will be given an individual room with a balcony. Each room is furnished with a desk, chair, single bed, closet, and air conditioner. 8 rooms are wheelchair accessible. Shower rooms, lavatories and a kitchen are provided for the common use on every floor. A solar-power generation system will be installed in the building.
A groundbreaking ceremony for the new dormitory was held on Wednesday, April 28, at its construction site on campus, with the attendance of President Tsunoyama of the University and representatives from the building constructors.
The new dormitory is scheduled for completion in March of 2011, and the residents will be able to move into the dormitory the following month.
