On Friday, November 27, 2015, the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding (hereafter referred to as "MOU") regarding cyber security between the Fukushima Prefectural Police and the UoA was held at the UoA Laboratory for Leading-edge ICT in Aizu (LICTiA).

In order to counter the growing threats in cyberspace with advanced technologies for investigation and fostering ICT specialists through providing thread information, the public-academia collaboration is essential.

Therefore, with the cybersecurity strategies established in police and the newly opened leading-edge ICT laboratory in the UoA in mind, police and the UoA have held talks for cooperation and collaboration necessary for the construction of a safe and secure cyberspace.

On the basis of this MOU and cooperation with the Fukushima Prefectural Police, the UoA will work on the following.

  • Information sharing, concerning tasks and solutions for the thread of cyber space,
  • Technical support regarding a criminal investigation and a countermeasure for prevention of cyber victims among children, etc.,
  • Developing human resources capable of handling threats, and,
  • Public relations activities related to the prevention of cyber crimes.
