On Wednesday, November 9, 2022, an International Talk on Zoom took place as a Global Lounge activity. Thirteen people including students, faculty, and staff members participated.
Ms. Julia Karnaukh, a special auditing student at our university, was featured as a speaker. She introduced her home countries, Russia and Germany. Mr. Odaira, a third-year student, did a wonderful job as a moderator in English.
The main feature of her presentation was the descriptive text accompanying the images. The carefully prepared slides and Julia's fluent English satisfied the audience's curiosity about these two countries. (see the pictures below). Her talk covered everything from culture, history, geography, and food in both countries and gave the participants a sense of closeness to the two countries.
With her explanation, viewers learned a great deal about the two countries. It was also a valuable opportunity to have a real-time presentation by a student like Julia-san, who has a broad cultural experience and perspective. Also, her presentation, which fully demonstrated her superb language skills, will be remembered as a role model for many students to aspire to be in the future!
The presentation concluded with a volume of questions. One of the participants, commented, " I wish the event would have been divided into two parts, one for each country because her talk was super fascinating. "
The next International Talk will take place in December via Zoom. We will keep you updated about this event.
