On two Saturdays, October 24 and October 31, 2015, 1st and 2nd-year students from Aizu Senior High School attended the annual "University of Aizu Lecture."
The lectures aims at providing an opportunity for 1st and 2nd-year Aizu SHS students to experience many different parts of the university's research in order to increase their interest in academic research, motivate them about their future path, and get them to think about the purpose of a university education.
Ten lecturers participated in this year's program, with two lecturers from the UoA, and a further 16 from Utsunomiya University, Ibaraki University, Tohoku University, Niigata University, Fukushima University, and Fukushima Medical University. Each student chooses two lectures from a total of 18 in a wide range of topics including language, engineering, literature, pedagogy, jurisprudence, economics, science, medicine, agriculture, etc. Professor Ian Wilson (*1) and Senior Associate Professor Demura (*2) from the UoA gave a lecture on English pronunciation and on asteroid probe Hayabusa 2 respectively.
