Notice of Confirmed Case of COVID-19 (January 16, 2022 Fukushima Prefecture announcement)

This is to notify you that three more university students have been confirmed to be infected with COVID-19.
These cases are not related to the female student who was confirmed to be infected last week.

1 Infected individuals:
1) Male student in his 20s residing in Aizuwakamatsu City
2) Male student in his 20s residing in Aizuwakamatsu City
3) Male student in his 20s residing in Aizuwakamatsu City
*The second and third students were close contacts of the first student.

2 Actions before infection was confirmed
Student 1
- Thursday, January 13 He developed symptoms including cough, headache,and sore throat.
- Saturday, January 15 He visited a medical institution in Aizuwakamatsu City, where he tested pseudo positive for coronavirus antigen.
He then underwent a PCR test, which returned a positive result.

Student 2
- Friday, January 14 He developed symptoms including cough and headache.
- Saturday, January 15 He visited a medical institution in Aizuwakamatsu City, where he tested pseudo positive for coronavirus antigen.
He then underwent a PCR test, which returned a positive result.

Student 3
- Friday, January 14 He developed a fever and cough.
- Saturday, January 15 He visited a medical institution in Aizuwakamatsu City, where underwent a PCR test.
- Sunday, January 16 The PCR test returned a positive result.

3 Status of University Facilities
We have taken steps including disinfecting the facility accessed by the students.
Access to all facilities remains available as usual.

4 Status of Classes
Classes will be held remotely for at least one week from Monday, January 17.
